Crafting your business’s website can be an intimidating prospect. Negotiating with a unknown entity to build your site can be even scarier! To ease those uncertainties we all face regarding our online presence, Scott Groth founded his web design firm, HD Web Designs, on a simple philosophy: “no hidden fees,  no long-term contracts, no BS”.

Read on to discover the philosophies that allow him to be a true client-first guy, and discover his personal mantra, which helped him transition from caterer to  web designer/business owner!

What led you to signup for ISES?

ISES has been an organization we have been associated with for years… with my first interaction at The Chubby Cook.  We had the whole crew out for one of our cooking events which was just a blast.  You could feel the energy of the group together and I knew that we would be a part of this organization one day.

Fast forward several years — I changed my hat from caterer to web designer. Insert a meeting with Nick Borelli, Marketing Director of Rock the House,  into the equation.  For those of you who are familiar with Nick, you know that he packs a lot into each meeting.  As usual, he delivered in style by starting the meeting with an introduction to Jodi Jacobson from Ben & Jodi Photography who recently had joined ISES Cleveland.  We hit it off immediately and I told Nick about halfway through our discussion that HD Web Designs was going to be the next ISES Cleveland member.

I also have to give a quick shoutout to Vince Ianiaggi from L’Nique Linens. He makes the process of signing up so easy, makes sure that new members are welcomed to the group and helps to make every event fun.

What’s something fun that people might not know about HD Web Designs?

One of the best parts of going to work everyday is the people that we get to meet, the stories we hear about their companies and really of their lives (with small business, the two are most often intertwined).

I have to say that all of the ISES Cleveland members we have met so far are truly passionate about their business, which is a key reason we love being members.  When you have the passion and drive which is almost tangible, we can translate that easily into compelling websites.

What’s your proudest moment as an events professional?

One thing that people need to realize is that there is so much more than just technical proficiency to creating a dynamic website that converts visitors to action.  My crew does that with every customer, elevating their online presence throughout the process. That makes me exceptionally proud each and every day.

I’m not sure that I qualify any longer as an event professional… but my proudest moment at HD Web Designs happens every day when I see my team working hard to realize the vision of our organization.  We have a truly wonderful crew who put everything we have into each site we build.

What is the best industry advice you’ve ever received?

“Fear is imagined.  Danger is real.”

I have an overactive imagination, so this has been my mantra for the last decade or more.  I can tell you from experience, when you take this advice to heart, anything is possible.

Is there anything extra you’d like to share with the ISES Cleveland community?

Sure.  We would like to extend a thank-you to the ISES Cleveland board and our fellow ISES members for being so welcoming.  This group has so much to offer and we look forward to getting to know more of you!

Check out HD Web Designs ! We love spreading the word about the talent in our community. Spread the love and share this post!
