One of the core values within ILEA is RELATIONSHIPS.
Building relationships starts with a simple conversation and getting to know our members as individuals. Recently one of our Member Ambassadors Meredith Masaveg had a one on one conversation with one of our current members, to get to know a little bit more about them, and why he choose ILEA Cleveland for their business. If you would like one of our Member Ambassadors to reach out to you to help you either make a connection or possibly be featured just let us know how we can help you.
This month’s ILEA Cleveland member spotlight features Matt Evers from Matt Evers Photography & Cleveland Photographic Company. Matt joined the Cleveland Chapter in December 2014, and currently is on the Communications committee.
ILEA: What is the best advice anyone has given you?
Matt: It really depends on what you are talking about? Are we talking life or business, because I think not only does it depend on the topic, but who also is giving the advice? In business the best advice I got was to not expect things to be handed to you on a silver platter, if you want something you have to work at. Stay focused and set goals for yourself. It’s why I have set not only yearly goals, but 3 and 5 year goals. In life, just be yourself.
ILEA: Why do attend ILEA events and what do you get out of them?
Matt: Networking is key in any business, and building personal relationships. I have found that in the Cleveland Chapter of ILEA the current members who are active within the chapter, are those who in my opinion are at the top of their game, and THE BEST in Cleveland. You are a product of your association and if I want to thrive in my business and grow, it benefits me to surround myself with the best in the industry within my market.
ILEA: If you could give any advice to current members who are looking to get more out of their investment into ILEA what would it be?
Matt: Be involved! I have gotten so much out of my membership by putting time into the chapter, going to networking events, sponsoring to shoot an event, and getting involved on a committee. You will get your investment back ten times over, but only if you are willing to put the time and work in to making it work for you. I have met some great people, and built really solid business relationships just in the past year that on my own would take a lot longer.
ILEA: How did you get started in wedding and event photography?
Matt: I started off doing landscapes, which is my real passion. I met Ben Hall (who now is co-owner of Cleveland Photographic Company and first told me about ILEA when he was a member) and I started shooting wedding with him. I found that I really enjoyed it, and the first time I made someone cry over a photo I took, I knew I had done my job. I have a horrible memory, but when I look at photo’s I can remember everything about that day and it brings back memories I had forgotten about or missed. To be able to capture that for someone and give them those memories is something really special to me.
ILEA: What do you like to do in your free time?
Matt: I just recently after 15 years started skiing again. I LOVE IT! I wish I had not gotten away from it because I feel like I lost some time.
