Wendy Voelker is the Events Manager for Hattie Larlham, a nonprofit located in Twinsburg that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As Events Manager for Hattie Larlham, Wendy produces the major fundraising events for the organization, including a signature gala, a volunteer recognition luncheon, and a 250-person golf tournament. She also coordinates internal and third-party events for Hattie Larlham. Her duties involve every aspect of event planning, including sponsorship, event tech, and volunteer coordination. Hattie Larlham events raise nearly $400,000 annually to benefit people with disabilities.
Prior to working at Hattie Larlham, Wendy was the Special Events Coordinator for the County of Schenectady, New York, planning and producing a year-round slate of public events for county residents. Wendy created Schenectady County’s signature summer event, which is still held annually and attracts nearly 25,000 people to downtown Schenectady for live music, family entertainment, food, and fireworks. She also produced the county’s weekly outdoor movie night series, their annual fall family event, and served as race director for the Schenectady County Pedal-Paddle-Run, a non-traditional triathlon. Wendy also has a background in radio and television broadcasting, working as Executive Producer for Clear Channel Radio in Albany, NY and producing their long-running and highly-rated morning show from 1999-2004. Wendy and her husband Bob moved to Ohio in 2013.
As a relatively new Clevelander, Wendy has found her ILEA membership extremely valuable in meeting new people and getting to know the area. She has served on the Membership Committee since joining ILEA in December 2015, and is looking forward to serving on the ILEA board and getting even more involved in the chapter.
Wendy is a native New Yorker, growing up near New York City, then spending 23 years living in Upstate New York, in the Albany area. She has her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and also spent five years of her life working as an industrial chemist.
